Another date issue
-
I will try.
It changed the dates of the files within the archive. Hence, although those files might have been added months – and their dates reflected when they were changed before being added, after updating another file with the archive, all the dates are the same.
This is a problem if I use PA as a mechanism to move files between computer (which I do). The date of files within the archive is NOT the real date THAT INDIVIDUAL FILE was modified.
Hence, it could overwrite a more recent file on the other computer.

i understand what you are saying, i just cant reproduce it - thats why i am thinking it could be a bit more specific issue and not just any zipx archive and any file inside on any OS.

Sorry I won’t be able to show you screen by screen. Because of the date problems I had to go back to WinZip. For me this is a serious issue.
Now to create those screens I would have to change files associations etc. and I don’t have time since I am headed to the airport.
I will just wait a couple of months and see if the same problem has been fixed. If so, I will try PA again.
Best

We dont need any screens, just small example archive and procedure you used to get the issue.
Without it, it will be impossible to fix the problem, ever. Being able to reproduce the issue is most crucial part of fixing it.
Maybe you will find time when you come back from your trip or someone else might try to reproduce it and get the issue as well. But I have tried several ways of updating and extracting files from main Powerarchiver interface on Windows 7 and it works fine every time.
Anyone else?

On Win XP SP3 which I believe is same as DKJones;
I tried by creating a zipx (six txt and pdf files), then opening in PA and editing one of the txt files (using double click/external editor), then saving changes into archive.Only modified file’s date info was changed for me as well.

it might be something related to what type of file is being updated or to how it is being updated…

Agreed, I was just confirming that it did not appear to be OS specific (as you reported checking on Win 7).

i know… i was thinking out-loud…

seems to me that the file is triggering the update to change all dates in the archive. Take a look at how you add files to an existing archive before and after modifying them

Do you mean that you can reproduce the problem?
If so, how??
