No Virtual Drive anymore..?

Hello again,
AFAIK I cud rmb-select and .iso and then mount that as in a Virtual Drive.
That option has gone.PAStarter, when right clicking on the taskbar button the virtual drive stuff
(3rd and 4th item) is greyed out.What to do?
(have tried options/set to installation defaults, that wud not help)thanks

In PA - what happens if you select “Virtual Drive”?
When I tried, PA downloaded the PAVD drivers, after restarting I then had the option in Explorer “right-click”.(Note: not sure how/when the drivers were “lost” but it’s now working for me)

Thanks a lot! Indeed this helped. I would not have found this solution. Think this should all in fact be included in the total PA-installer, which I think it is not right now (?) as apparently it needs to be downloaded separately… ?
Anyway, problem solved.

indeed, as PAVD installs extra drivers to the system, it is optional and not included into main installation.

Would it then not be an idea to have this option installed by default.
After all, the PowerArchiver home site says
“… PowerArchiver 2010 enables you to create ISO images, either by ripping the CD/DVD/BD with Disc Grabber, or directly with files from your hard disk. With PowerArchiver’s Virtual Drive feature, you can also mount .ISO images into Windows so they appear like a normal drive and you can browse inside”Or at least, during the install process, ask the user whether he/she wants it.
Actually I got accustomed to it but for whatever reason the option suddenly was not available in the context menu and I had to search for a solution ending up to post this message.
All this would not be avoided… :)
PA is a relatievely small package, this extra will not make it substantially bigger I guess.
That aside, don’t see this as criticism. PA is a wonderful product. I am trying to think along.
Same as my wishlist item to have unmount drive as a context menu item as well - right now I need to launch PAstarter to do that.Thanks

problem is that small amount of users actually use PAVD, and PAVD installation is 3 MB… This is why it is an option… there are few other ways i can think of (prompt when registering pro for instance), but in any case, most of the users if they get automatic prompt for installing PAVD would be suprised, some of them unpleasently, that PA is installing some drivers for them ;-). This is why we have done it this way.
In fact as it is, we got few support emails with regards to PA installing drivers, from confused and sometimes angry people (who assumed PA is doing something malicious).
What we could possibly do is enable PAVD in Starter, just like in main PA, and if it is not present, download it… Thats maybe too, because that might enlarge Starter as well, which means less people will be using it, despite our efforts to make it as efficient as possible ;-).
So you can see decisions are not that simple as they might seam ;-).
p.s. PA’s installation is between 9 and 10 MB right now… for me, thats a lot… we are planning to add more features in the future, so we are always trying to keep installation smaller, adding 3 MB would make my head explode ;-). In fact, we hope to lower the installation size soon, there are some updates coming there ;-).

against this tool being installed.Different views apparently as I think it very handy indeed.
Either I need to install another application (like Deamon) or use Nero’s virtual drive (slow, I don’t like it) or PA, fast.
Well, anyway.Security software may alarm users when installing the software. My Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 did
and I needed to click ‘Allow’ to have the program installed.
When looking the the logfile I see PASTARTPORT13004.TMP marked as suspicious.Just a tip.

Oh, one last remark, about installing virtual drive.
As suggested, you may wish to leave it upto the user, so somewhere during the installation the user can (un)tag install the virtual drive software.So, all parties are happy then, I guess… :-)
