CRC error w/split zip in PA 11.50.61
-
Sorry, I didn’t found an answer to one my question - does creating same ZIP archive with same files and size without spanning works fine?
-
Yes, creating a zip with the same files without spanning works fine.
-
Just fyi, the latest rc still has this same problem. ;)
-
would it be possible for us to download those original files? Only way we can reproduce it (and fix it).
Maybe try with less files but same folder (smaller file size) and see if that works or not, if we can get smaller sample it will be easier.
thanks

The file set is over 32GB, plus this is a VMware image that contains proprietary software. There is no way I could get it to you. I’ll try to come up with a repeatable scenario that causes the problem using smaller and different files, however the problem only seems to show up at the DVD sized split boundary.

See if you can reproduce the problem using the below steps.
Download http://www.bertel.de/software/rdfc/rdfc.zip
Unzip the rdfc.exe file and put it in a temporary directory with at least 37GB of space.
From the temporary directory, create the test files by running the following commands in order:
rdfc “Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition.vmdk” 1818
rdfc “Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition-s001.vmdk” 2146304000
rdfc “Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition-s002.vmdk” 2145976320
rdfc “Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition-s003.vmdk” 2139947008
rdfc “Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition-s004.vmdk” 2141257728
rdfc “Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition-s005.vmdk” 2145583104
rdfc “Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition-s006.vmdk” 2138832896
rdfc “Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition-s007.vmdk” 2140471296
rdfc “Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition-s008.vmdk” 2137587712
rdfc “Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition-s009.vmdk” 2135818240
rdfc “Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition-s010.vmdk” 2144796672
rdfc “Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition-s011.vmdk” 2146172928
Highlight all the vmdk files, right-click and select parameters per the attached pic.I then open the .zip file in Winzip and perform a ‘Test’. I get a CRC error. If you unzip with PA, you should eventually get either a CRC error, an erroneous password prompt, etc.
Let me know if you have any questions.

and thanks a lot… huge help!

That is so great. That had to be a hard one to diagnose and fix I bet. Great job and many thanks!

going through 5 GB archives with hex editor = awesome :-)

You can re-download 11.60.12 from our website. Please check it out and see if this solved your issue.
We did not have a lot of time to test it out. Thanks!

Things are looking good. I tested two large directories that had problems before when zipped/split, but have no problems when zipped/split with the latest PA build. I’ll continue to keep a close watch on new zips going forward and let you know if I see a repeat of the problem.
Thanks!
