PA Burner Freezes

Why does PA Burner freeze when I try to run it while there is a CD with data in the DVD RW drive?

what mine does is start the burn process and buffering process and then reports a 100% completed message even though it’s nowhere near finished burning….it has in fact buffered the in formation and is waiting for the burner to write to my cd/dvd disc but whilst this is happening the burner screen reports a ‘not responding’ message and I’m forced to wait until it’s completes the process.
the task completes successfully but some users may see this as a bug perhaps?not sure this has relevance to your post but thought I’d mention it in case developers find it useful.

Is your issue on the regular PA burner or the Image Burner?

I’m still having the same issue as in 11.50. The HDD light stays on as it did in 11.50. The optical drive light is off and when I eject the CD the CD ejects but the burner tool won’t unfreeze. The CD only has a few MB of burned data.

does that happen with any DVD-RW disc or just that specific one? Can you do full erase on that disc and see what happens then?

It doesn’t happen with DVD media. It only happens when using CD media unless the CD is blank.

do you have erase option enabled?

well that doesnt help if it doesnt even show the window…
We will contact you next week with info on how to turn on the logging support so we can get logs from the burner…

The issue is the same in 11.60.10. How do turn on logging support so I can get logs from the burner?

I am having this problem as well. I recently installed a Plextor DVD burner and was trying to make an ISO from a CD. The computer would freeze and require a hard reboot.
The computer froze a few seconds right after I selected to “Copy DVD to image” when there was a CD in the drive. If I did this without the CD in the drive the burner window would popup.
I tried different versions of PA but have not been able to resolve the problem.
On the same computer I also have the original CD burner. If I put the same CD in that drive I don;t have any problems with PA.
Is this a general DVD burner problem?

This issue with the burner freezing to me seems to be localized to only external burners. Am I correct?
If that’s the case then it looks like PA CD/DVD burning can only work if you use internal burners. I’ve burned CD/DVD using my internal one and had no issues. It’s the external burners that I experienced the freezing and the need to do hard rebooting.
PA seems to have issues with external burners for some reason.

did you try 11.60.10/12 release? Was your burner internal or external?

To your answer your two questions, I did try 11.60.12, I don’t think I saved a copy of 10, and the burner is internal.
I also tried to burn from the CD burner but it end of creating an invalid ISO that could be opened but seemed to contain no contents despite it’s size of 380MB.
