Favorites and Options fails

With PA in classic view, I click on the Favorites button
The window opens, showing a list containing 53 entriesFirst strange thing - the Open button is greyed out (disabled)
Second - if I click on Options button, PA fails with “Error reading DirList.Header.Columns.Items: Out of memory.”

PA has a huge memory leak. As soon as you click on Options, PA rapidly continues to consume memory out of control, as observed via Task Manager. Sustained disk activity also occurs. -
What version??? I have installed RC1 via clean install and notice no impact on my systems resources by clicking on the options menu. If anything RC1 is quicker and smoother!
On opening PA my CPU Usage goes from 4% to 78% for a mili second.
With PA Open my CPU Usage is still 4% and on selecting the PA options jumps to 8% briefly.
Clicking on the Configuiration button puts the cpu usage up from 4% to 18% “again briefly!”
Bar my antivirus program and email client running no other app was using my CPU.
I have Windows XP Pro SP2, AMD Athlon 64bit 3500+ and 3 gig of RAM on my work system.
