PA 2010 Beta

I like this very much!
-
same here!…enjoying it now.

Does one uninstall 2009 first or install over the top.
Cheers

I downloaded it and installed over 2009, thus retaining my preferences etc.
But that’s because I trust the PA guys!
I think that you should be able to install to a different folder and thus run both versions. I haven’t myself done this with PA, and I would suggest that you seek guidance in the Tech forum if you feel you want to keep both.
-
you can simply install it over PA 2009 and it will work great, even registration will work :-).

@PABlog:
PowerArchiver 2009 Beta 1 Preview is out - Pro users Exclusive!
Either it is “old news” or some editing is required :p

The new version is nice indeed. There is a small problem with the licence system: after installing it over 2009 version, uninstalling and reinstalling it as a fresh program the trial popup appeared saying that the program had expired. It didn’t accept my licence initially (!), only after running the program in trial mode for a couple of times. Strange. My OS is Win 7 x64 build 7000.

My OS is Win 7 not Vista. :)
-
i think it might due to different 64bit shell extensions… thats good thing to check here.
-
p.s. no 64bit version - there is not need for it as there would be no gains whatsoever in any aspect of PA.

Not even with 7-zip compression and large dictionaries? I’d expect that it could take advantage of extra RAM.
What about at least compiling large address aware? That way the x64 users could at least use 4 GB of RAM.

nope… ultra mode of 7z uses 750 MB of ram all together… and block sizes dont have anything to do with ram usage (so you can have 16 GB solid block for instance).

On the context menu icon, I thought I would mention this topic: http://www.powerarchiver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2948
Possibly related since Frank is running x64?

Although this is not a thread for reporting bug, we did some fixed for next and hopefully transparency problem will be solved. I tested with XP x64 and Vista x64 with no problems so far.
