Erroneous password
-
I am working with PowerArchiver 11.02.03 When attempting to test our backups we have noticed an erroneous password has been placed on our files. I am the only one with access to this program and have not changed anything. Does anyone know what may have caused this to happen and how to fix it? Is there a way to break the erroneous password? Your help is greatly appreciated.!

… Is there a way to break the erroneous password?
What format is the backup (zip, 7zip, tar.gz … ??).
What type of password encryption (zip, AES, PAE ?) did you use? -
you mean backups are password protected? maybe someone inputed password?
if you forgot the password, i am not sure much can be done…

The backup I ran last night is good and I can extract from it. But previous backups we cannot access the individual files. We can use the password on the zip folder, but not the individual files….I don’t understand how this could have happened.
TIA…is it friday yet?

All of our backups are passworded…but somehow the password was changed to a bunch of symbols, etc…

Do we assume that you have identified/remembered the password somehow?
Is this backup using a pbs file (so you see password in PA GUI) or what?

I have known my password all along. An erroneous password of all odd symbols was in the password section instead of what I usually use. I am at home right now, but it was something with umlates, boxes, and various other symbols. I have sent 2 different pbs files to PA support.

password is encrypted when saved, so if you check pbs files, it will look weird…. so someone cant just look into your pbs and find out password that you use…
