Folders with many *.rar files
-
This was fixed in the betas, now one can only double-click in the first RAR to see what is in the archive. Just tested it in a folder containing 49 RAR files.

It is the ‘other’ type of archive, *.part1.rar, *.part2.rar etc.
I reported the same bug in the betas and it took a couple of goes to get it right…same problem again.
I have kept the archive for testing for you…normally delete them.

does shell ext work properly?
Only if I use *.part01.rar, not if I right-click on any of the other *.rars.

Yes I am.
The file names in my case are 55 characters long, excluding the extension.
BINGO! I renamed all the files so that they were 32 characters long and the problem went away.

P.S. Are you aware of any limit? If so, what is it? Tnx.
Just a quick edit to bump.

What is the limit with filenames? I come across many .rar files like the above.

it probably has to do with filename itself, send me one that doesnt work via pm if it is sensitive, if not, post it here (but real one)….

I believe there is a total (Windows) limit of 255 [254 ?] characters for the FULL (drive + path + filename) length. Assuming “legal” characters, there is no additional limit for the filename part alone.

There was nothing strange about the file name itself. The actual archive itself was DVD-sized ;). I don’t have another to test, otherwise I would change the file name length and test it that way.

You’re welcome. You are doing such a fine job, I felt guilty for mentioning it again…you must be so busy.
