30-40 seconds before I can use beta4

Over 30-40 seconds before I can use Powerarchiver 2009 beta 4.
Not 100% sure if you would class this as a bug or not but here goes.If I have PA startup location set as last open folder, then I am getting a heck of a delay when starting PA and it is unusable until the files appear. CPU usage is very high nearly 50%. Now admittedly there is 2.5 gig of archives in there and 30-40 seconds may be acceptable, but I can’t remember seeing this behaviour in the past. But as I usually have PA startup location elsewhere I maybe just overlooked it.
If I have PA startup location set to an empty folder I can use it instantly, I then can open the folder with those 2.5 gigs worth of archives and it displays them immediately. No lag or high CPU usage then, which is what makes me wonder if it is a bug after all.

you are using explorer view? and if you go to classic view, it works fine?
-
i got it, will check it out

Yes I was using explorer view. Classic view shows no files when I run PA, so the delay is not there.
Is that the right behaviour ? it’s so long since I used PA in that setting I can’t remember if it should be showing the files there when I open PA or not. :o -
we found why it happens - it is due to explorer component checking out zip and cab archives to show them in treeview to the right… It is slow if you have huge zip files.
Now we are looking what can we do about it… thanks

Rather you than me. :p
Is this what is causing the problem in My other thread which is a similar problem ?
-
probably, do you have zip/cab archives shown in the treeview to the left after you click on +?
-
They appear in the treeview after 30-40 seconds.
That’s after the high CPU occurs (where it looks like PA is not responding). Which pretty much follows the behaviour of the bug here.As I stated in the other thread
There are about 30 pae files in the folder all around 90Mb in size, so you might need something similar to duplicate it, or maybe not.
Which incidentally is the same folder that I was using when I reported this one.

Please check Beta 5 via web update and see if this issue is still happening… Thanks!
