Configuration - Speed options

It is not clear at all from the help file if the ‘Use current folder as temp’ is meant to speed things up or not.
Can anybody enlighten me?

yes, they are all there to speed up things
-
basically, no moving of files accross hard drive… if you are compressing something on D: and your temp is on C: you will have to wait for compressed file to be moved from C: to D:, which can take long time…

Okay, will tick the box.

Did as above, and PA is still using the default temp folder. The setting does not work, leastways on Vista SP1.
I have three h/ds on my system and PA was not even using the same disk for its temp files, let alone the same folder .

I was unRARing a multipart RAR file that contained one file, if you get what I mean. I was working on my G: drive and the normal temp folder on C: was being used, monitored and confirmed using an open explorer window.
Also, still had the separate copy operation at the end of the unRAR.

For what file formats is this option supported? If it could be enabled for RAR it would be very handy indeed as I deal with them a lot.

it is supported for all formats (or it should be) except for rar - unfortunatly unrar.dll does not have this option, nor it has option for keeping broken files (another wish that people wanted for long time).
