Extraction error for chinese filename
-
I am using vista 86x and when I try to extract a zip file with a chinese filename it always gives an error.
I have to change the name to english characters to be able to extract.
so far vista can support chinese filenames and so can my programs.

Can you provide more information on the error? a screenprint would help. Also the version you are using RC1 or the Last Final including the revision number.
This will assit the developers to quickly assess the problem and try duplicating it.

Did you enable chinese support for non-unicode programs? that should make it work.
thanks,

Hi
The 1st and 2nd image is when I try to double click the rar file in power archiver. The 3rd image is when I right click in windows explorer.the files are not damage as I can extract them if I change the names to english.
I guess the problems could be configuration. I have went thru the configurations and could not find the chinese support for non unicode.
Thanks

Sorry, can’t see them (too small).

This is in Windows configuration - not PowerArchiver configuration.
Does the problem happen with other formats or is it only RAR (e.g. can you do a quick test with a 7z file with chinese name).

you need to enable it in Control Panel> Regional and Language Settings> Advanced.

sorry about the images…. anyway it paritially works with 7s but not with rar
tested both rar and 7s
Rar
when i right click in windows explorer, the options avaliable are compress instead of extract.
and when i double click it in power archiver it gives an error saying its not the right filetype7s
gives the same thing in windows explorer…(no option to extract…
however it works when i open power archiver and double click the file. -

There are 2 types of chinese characters, do you mean everytime i need to extract archive with different chinese type i need to
Control Panel> Regional and Language Settings> Advancedand restart the PC for few minutes just to extract the file??? Please make a program that support unicode. In addition, I do NOT like to set the regional setting other than English unless no choice.
Besides 2 types of chinese characters, there are still japanese, korean… which are commonly used. Changing the regional setting and restart PC for 5 minutes just to extract archive(s) is not the solution . Renaming the file to english name is much faster in this case, but very troublesome. Powerarchiver needs to overcome this.
