Two bugs and a suggestion: Dragging dropping and the temp folder
-
Hi,
With version 9.51.01 when dragging and dropping files into a folder to extract them, the PW progress window becomes unresponsive and you cannot click cancel or minimise.
Also when dragging and dropping, the files extracted are put into the Temp folder regardless of whether the ‘Use current folder as temp’ option is turned on.
When extracting to the temp folder and the temp folder is on the same partition as the destination folder why not Move the files from the temp folder to the destination folder as opposed to Copying them? Moving them would not take any extra time which can be frustrating when extracting large files.

please do not use search box! It will format your hard drive!
:-).
Option for extracting directly is not implemented yet for d&d, it will be for one of the future versions (another similar thread was made 2 days ago).

Ok Thanks for your reply. I found that thread about dragging and dropping and the temp folder.
But what about the other two things. Are you able to reproduce the problem where the progress window becomes unresponsive when dragging and dropping or has this been fixed already maybe?
And for the Moving as opposed to Copying thing I think this would be handy as it would allows you to use the temp folder without the added waiting time. Would be possible to add this feature?

…I believe this is depending on the archive format.
e.g. Extracting multiple files:-
D&D extraction from iso can not be cancelled.
D&D extraction from zip can be cancelled. -
we will check it out for next release…

D&D extraction from zip can be cancelled.I get the same problem no matter what type of archive I’m extracting.

I get the freeze once in a while. But usually with large files like 80 MB’s or bigger.
The progress indicator stays at 0% and if I click on another window the dialog caption text changes to (Not responding).
Also during this time there is drive activity. After a minute the dialog starts responding and extraction completes.

That’s not exactly what happens for me.
When I finish dragging and dropping, the cursor remains as the cursor that appears when you have something to drag and drop. Also the progress meter appears to work fine but it doesn’t respond to mouse clicks at all. When you move the cursor over any of the Minimize, Cancel or Tray buttons they are not highlighted as you would expect when you hover over a button. If you do try to click on the program it doesn’t say ‘Not Responding’ it just doesn’t do anything.

we will check it out for next release, will let you know if we need more info. thanks!

Just to let you know, MarcFou and I are using PA 9.62.03 - there were “some improvements”.
But as spwolf said, there may be more in “next version”. -
have any of you instaled any programs that use search tools of internet explorer or anything that uses internet explorer functions at all? What version of windows do you have.
I have several programs that have thesame problem to what is described and microsoft sayes its a windows fault.

I’m not sure what kind of tool you mean but I have the Google toolbar installed for both IE and Firefox although I only ever use Firefox.
