Stop 'queue' creating spanned archives
-
I turned on ‘queue’ as i reguarily have to zip mutli gb files and queue appears to run as a lower priority meaning my whole machine does not become unusable.
however it always seems to create spanned archives is there anyway of specifying how i want the archive to be created when using the queue
-
how are you creating zip files? if through shell, then there is default shell configuration in Options that you need to check out and make sure MV is not selected there?
-
Yes I am using the shell.
To replicate do the following:
-
Ensure Queue is turned off
-
R/Click on file and select Compress to zip
-
Single File Created
-
Ensure Queue is turned on
-
R/Click on file and select Compress to zip
-
Spanned File Created
I have already looked and been unable to find a configuration option
-
-
in configuration, profiles, check default zip profile…
-
and check what is the saved setting for Add window in main PowerArchiver (try creating new zip in main PA and check what is under options)…
I tried it with queue and worked fine here…
-
both set to no spanning.
i tested this on a folder 200mb in size and still get the same problem.
turning on queue and always use queue means than zips created through the shell create a spanned archive.
it seems to be when the always use queue option is checked that the problem occurs
turning off queue reverts back to the default expected behaviour.
I’m making no other option changes.
i’m using vista ultimate with uac turned off if you want to replicate my enviroment
-
can someone else duplicate this behaviour?
Fatboy - can you delete your PA registry key and try again? Or just use “Set defaults” button in Options menu/tab.
-
Or send us registry file of HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PowerArchiver?
-
can someone else duplicate this behaviour?
No - always use queue
I just created a 240MB zip file (not spanned) via shell extensions. -
I’ve reset to defaults and it’s still doing it (tested on a 380mb folder).
I have the registry from both before and after the reset.
What would you like me to do with it?
