.PAE file won't open
-
I have encrypted a .zip file to a .pae file with Power Archiver 6. Now I had to update to Power Archiver 7, and for some reason everytime I try to open it, it asks for the password, I enter it, shows ‘Decrypting file’ and the percentage completed and freezes at 3% . Always 3%. I don’t have any idea why this is happening, the file doesn’t seem to be corrupted, and I’ve only encrypted it since I had precious information in it. Can’t really afford to lose it.

can u post the file here.
Secondly can u reinstall the last version of pa that you created it in and try and open it, if it opens ok in that version then the file is not corrupt and it then definately has to be powerarchiver that is the problem.

davidsplash firstly I would like to Thank you for your quick reply.
After sending the email I had tried uninstalling Power Archiver and use exactly the previous version I had. Once again, Power Archiver literally jams up at 3% and I’ll be forced to end its task. From what I’m seeing it looks like it’s a corrupted file, but I haven’t got the slightest idea why it would corrupt so easily, since I had never had such a problem on the current HD.
As much as I would like to send you the .pae file I’m afraid it contains sensitive data, besides the fact that it is 500MB in size…. I’m not really sure what to do, any help would be appreciated.

If the file is corrupted, then there is no way you can recover it, since it is encrypted file.
You can try installing older version, but I dont think that it would help anything.
thanks
