Outook Addin for 2007- No Tab
-
Hi, I installed the beta 2 Outlook for 2007 add-on on my home machine with Vista Ultimate and Office 2007 Enterprise. When I went into Outlook and tools then Options there was no PowerArchiver tab. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling several time but it still was the same. I then installed it on my laptop which was XP Pro and Office 2007 Enterprise and it is the same, no PowerArchiver tab. I then tried it on my machine at work which is Vista Business and Office 2007 Enterprise and on that machine it works ok. So why would it not work on mt home desktop or laptop?

Hi Carmen,
did you exit Outlook before installation or restart your computer after installation? Without that, you can not install it properly.
Anyone else similar experiences? Can some regulars post what installations worked for them? Just to be safe :-).
thanks!

Well I couldn’t even install beta 2.
When it got to Unregistering… I got a message box (Title: Microsoft Outlook) saying Windows should be closed
Office 2003 / Win XP / Trying to “upgrade” from Beta 1.Tried twice - same result.
Then noticed both Beta 1 AND Beta 2 were in Add/Remove so have now uninstalled both and want to try again on Monday before saying more.

Hi Spwolf,
I didn’t even open Outlook after starting up the PC and restarted after PA Outlook add-in install, no different. My machine at work installed fine even after having Outlook open and closed and no reboot. If I go into Trust Center in Outlook and check there the add-in is not listed anywhere. Is there a way to manually install the DLL to see if that will make the Tab show up?

just press confirm or continue (dont remember what is it) and it will work fine. Or at least it did in my example.

Tried that, but it didn’t work - at least the PA options/tab was removed from Outlook.
Note : Unistalling beta 2 from add/remove also failed. But I can try again Monday - my second PC is broken at the moment :(

After removing all previous PAOP entries via Add/Remove, beta 2 has now installed OK.
Small “gripe” - it didn’t find the installed PowerArchiver folder on my D:\ drive, only offered to install into “default” folder on C:\

Anyone else?

I just attempted to install 2.0 beta 2 plug-in. It said it installed, but when I opened Outlook 2003, it still showed the old plug-in. Restarted the computer, rechecked, still old plug-in. Went to control panel and found both of the plug-in installed. Uninstalled both, re-installed 2.0 and now it shows that I have the latest one installed.

Restarted your computer?
-
Yes, restarted, rechecked Outlook, and the old plug-in was still showing. Uninstalled both, re-installed the 2.0 and then opened Outlook and the new plug-in was there.
-
I just installed the plug-in on my other desktop and it installed fine. I didn’t need to restart the computer. Still shows both 1.10 and 2.0 plug-in installed in the control panel.

that was due to the dll being in use - it should have been updated after restart.
thanks for the info!
