PowerArchiver 2007 and Blue Screens
-
Hey there, i’m new here, but i’m posting because i just downloaded the trial version of powerarchiver 2007. Problem now is that my computer is acting really strangely.
Everytime i run powerarchiver 2007, my computer goes into a Blue Screen of Death, and my whole system resets. I’ve tried running it in Safe Mode however, and it works.
My guess now is that perhaps there is a conflict with my other software running at the time… But i only have my firewall, ZoneAlarm Pro and my anti-virus, BitDefender v10 running. Apart from those i can’t see anything else that might be causing this. Any insight?
I’ve tried reinstalling over 5 times but i can’t get it working, so i have to stick to 2006 for the moment :( the gui for 2007 looks sweet though >.>
EDIT: Well, i’ve tried powerarchiver 2007 on my other laptop, and seems like the same thing is happenning. My guess would be that there is some software incompatibility since that laptop also runs similar software…

same thing only my computer is set to restart just before a blue screen accurs and thus havent found a way to solve it…

please email us via support form above, we are trying to find out what is the cause of the issue. We got 5-6 reports so far.
It doesnt seem to be the issue with external software so far, but email us and so we can get more info.
thank you

I’ve sent my error report in. I’m quite stunned though, what else could be causing the error if not for 3rd party programs.
Considering other users might have gotten it to work on their systems, i think its safe to say its a conflicting software issue.
I’m running XP Service Pack 2 Professional btw. I’m pretty sure that no one else atm runs XP SP1, and that if XP has issues with it, so would Vista, considering its a mess at the moment

It is never that simple. We are trying to get several reports together to make sense of it and narrow down possible cause, so help is greatly appreciated.
I wish someone has reported it before final version though, we had several hundred thousands downloads of beta versions and nobody reported anything similar, althought it should have happened at that point. People always assume it will get fixed, somehow :D

yeah, i was fairly shocked that a final release would be one with such a major bug. Oh well, I trust in the PA staff to get it fixed anyway :) you guys are an awesome bunch.
EDIT: I was keeping myself in contact with the support staff of PA, and they did some debugging with me. Managed to churn out an exe which doesn’t crash my system, so i guess you guys can expect an updated release coming out soon :D
