Problem: download PA 9.64.2.0
-
For the first time ever I am having a problem downloading the latest update. I currently have v9.63.02. I have tried a number of times from the website and also from within PowerArchiver with and without the firewall on. It seems to download but when I try to install I always get a message that “The setup files are corrupt…”
What should I do?
Thanks,
blair -
no problemns this end what program your using to download pa with

Blair,
If you ever have problems downloading files and they are coming across as currupt this usually results in;
Firewall
Antivirus
Spyware Checkers
ISP Downtime
Server Problems
Wireless Downtime during download.
Site server glitch.The best way to overcome these areas is by downloading a Download Manager such as;
DAP “Download Manager”
LeechGet 2006 etcThis should help and both are available free

blairhi,
seems as if bad download got cached at your ISP. Best bet is to use some kind of download manager to download and it will work great.
thanks!

isn’t that what I just said? but minus the techno bavel :D

Also you might try clearing the browser’s cache (the “Tools/Internet Options…/Delete Files…” button in IE 6).

Thanks for the help!!!
I download things successfully all the time without difficulty through MSN so I am not sure what is happening here.
I do not have Zone Alarm on my system. I use MSN 9 but the biggest change of late has been upgrading to IE 7. I have also recently bought into “Windows Live One Care” for Firewall, Antivirus, Spyware Checking etc.
IT FINALLY DOWNLOADED
I had been trying to download through MSN many many times but it never got up to 1M. I decided to try through IE7 and it worked (without turning off firewall etc.) but not the first time. It finally downloaded after the third attempts and 2 false readings of ± 2M then almost 3M.
Thanks for the mention of the download managers. I will hold those site locations on standby. It seems unfortunate to have to have a third party software to do such work. Others must not have the same problem, not sure why I did for it never happened before. If anyone else does have the problem may the info here will help.
Thanks again!!!

I’ve found DAP has aquired very annoying bugs since about V7.5 and I’ll be abandoning it forever as soon as I find something else which suits me.

Get right, of course :-)

I use flashget. Also very good.
