PA 10b2: 3 bugs on Windows XP x64
-
Hello,
1 - Annoying: when running a fresh install of PA 10 B2 on a XP x64 workstation, the shell extensions are not available in the explorer, even if the option in the installer has been set and the options in PA is reported enabled.
2 - Minor: when entering registration code, if, by mistake, you enter a PA 2006 code (I had half a brain cell this morning), the license information wizard succeeds and ask to restart PA to complete the registration procedure. Of course, when you restart PA, you have to enter a correct registration code.
It would be nice to have a warning dialog that the code
is for PA 2006 and that a new code is to be retrieved from the account page.
Entering the PA 2007 code solves the problem of course.3 - Really Annoying: when an archive is opened in PA, If I select a few files from my archive, I cannot drag-drop them to an explorer window. When I try to move my selection, PA tries to rebuild a selection and not do a drag-drop.

1. I will check for it - I think I know where is the problem.
3. Which format? Are there any UNICODE filenames inside (I saw this problem only with unicode files inside archive).
-
2. thats impossible due how our system works.
3. It happened to me once, but I couldnt reproduce it anymore, so any other info on the archive helps….

1. I have XP Pro x64 Workstation 2 at work and have no problems with the shell extentions. However, you do have to create the extention list 1st in the options menu as their doesnt seem to be a default list once installed.
2, I agree that it would be a nice to have a menu that apears informing you that the serial you entered is correct or wrong without having to restart the application. However, it is a “nice to have” not an essential piece of work that has to be done.
3. I have had this exact same problem and for the sake of me I cant Replicate it! rest asure when i do I will let you guys know.

More info.
2 - The registration stuff is really minor. Once I read the e-mail and got the 2007 code, everything was fine.3 - I have the problems on rar archives.
On zip files, it’s a question of position of cursor: I can drag drop files when I move a selection when the cursor is on the file name or the icon in the file list view.
When the cursor is above the date, file types or any columns right to file names, the selection is reset.
It’s a bit tricky because the selection spans all the row.
On Rar archives, it’s systematic.
I got the problems with these archives from this link

Regarding 1,
In options once enabling shell extentions you “have” to create the menu’s you wish to show via submenu or else it will not show when you right click despite enabling it!
I have provided a breif image of what it should look like.
PA Crew, can you create a default shell extention menu and should a user wish to change this they can via the options menu.

reported problem is with x64 specific extensions, not related to selecting what extensions to include.
By default, shell extensions are turned on. Submenus are not, only when you have PA 2006 installer before, and PA doesnt reset its usage… However if you do clean install or reset PA settings, hybrid shell extensions are shown by default.

Shell extensions will work now on x64 systems as well from Beta 4. Thanks!
