Reuse PowerArchiver Windows
-
A setting to reuse PA windows exists in the Options menu. I prefer to have multiple instances of PA open so I do not enable reuse. While this feature works when opening files from the file system it does not work when opening archives contained within archives. If the option to reuse windows is disabled shouldn’t opening archives within archives open a new instance of PA rather than reusing the same instance? Is this a bug?
As a workaround I can use the Exlporer Display Style because it at least allows me to go one level up. However, PA re-parses the parent archive when I go up one level from a child archive.

Hi,
when you open archive inside PowerArchiver, it automatically opens it in the same window - it is not affected by reuse setting at all.
I am not sure if it should, maybe some additional option for this specifically?

I wish some archive utility would be capable of this. I am a Java developer I frequently access archives within archives. It is annoying to not have the ability to go back and forth looking through various archives. I guess I just have taken this feature for granted because it is a part of other applications I use.
Well if you can add this to the wish list I would appreciate it. Perhaps the reuse setting could be checked when opening archives within archives or an option on the context menu to open an archive in a new window.

good idea…

FWIW, in my opinion it should simply respect the current setting for window reuse. Having another option for this specific scenario seems like option overkill to me.

there is big difference there. If you open an archive inside PowerArchiver, by default behavior it should open in that same PowerArchiver.
However that still does not mean that you only want to use single PowerArchiver window, which is what reuse would force.
Open in new window sounds like great option there.
