Hi!

I could not figure out if there is a way for specifying certain which files should not be compressed (added without compression).

I’ll give you the example where I use winrar for that purpose. I exchange quite a lot of files between home and work computers, outlook pst files among them. These pst files are huge and their compression takes a lot of time, but gain is practicaly none… Using winrar I set that these files should not be compresses.
Is there a way to to that in pa?

I also have a question about a bar at the top of the window, that shows the name of the archive. Can it be turned of because it just take precious space (I tend to have the habbit to take ewth out of the gui that I dont use - that includes toolbars, status bar…)?

There is no configuration option to “automatically use” a compression level based on the filetype.
However, it is possible if you archive as a “two step” process - first compress the files you want compressing, then add the “don’t compress” files with the compression set to “none”.

Of course you could also do this “two step” using PowerArchiver Backup scripts (or PACL)
e.g. For pst files -
Add all files excluding “.pst" with compression max.
Add all ".pst” files with compression none.

I did search for guides how to manually write pa backup scripts… Is it possible to do this by using only one script or should I write two scripts and run them sequentially?

If a open automatically created script in text editor, ewth is clear, but I don’t know the syntax to create this “two stage” processing…

Using PACL is this possible using only one comand or batch commands would be needed?

you can make an batch script with two calls. They will be called one after each other…

but there really wont be an easy way to do it until we actually add that feature…
