Change to tool button. Possible bug?

  • Alpha Testers

I see that in 14.00.23 there has been a slight change with the “tool” button.
Clicking on it now gives us the option to expand it to view the full list of tools.
Have to say I preferred it when it was already expanded without the need to click on the arrows. Any chance of returning to the way it was, even as an option maybe?

    <edit>Looking like a bug now.

Lux I’m seeing it on my system as the right hand image is that correct? (14.00.23)

I assumed from Luxor’s post that the tool button had changed, but like Moles, I don’t have to click any drop down arrow. All the options show automatically on mine as well. Is there a chance that there is an option somewhere the controls which was the button appears?

No, I’m seeing the 1st (left) image.

Can’t find anything to change it anywhere. Doesn’t seem to be a skin issue neither.

    Yay! I think I’ve found a bug. 😃

  • I also see the image on the right - all options available. v14.00.23*

*From the info patchbeam gives (same version under beta and release), it looks like this version is a final and not a beta.

    Same info here.
But spwolf did say that it’s beta 5. 🙂

    well, thats strange.

    well, thats strange.

    It sure is.

  • Alpha Testers

    Damn! It’s still present in 14.00.26 😞

Tried resetting to defaults and it was OK. Imported back my settings and it displays OK for now. 😕
I will keep an eye on it for any change in behaviour.

  • Alpha Testers

    This bug resurfaced last night.
No changes to my computer, nothing installed etc.
No changes made to Powerarchiver itself neither.
Good luck finding what’s causing it as it has me stumped. 😕

  • conexware

    weird……

    @spwolf:

    weird……

You can say that again. 😉
Worse still I tried resetting back to defaults like the last time but this time it’s not fixing itself. 😞

  • Alpha Testers

It was a long shot I know but 1400rc2 didn’t fix it.

  • Alpha Testers

Just an update to inform that 140030 didn’t make a difference when reset to defaults etc.

  • conexware

it is not going to make any difference until next alphas :-).

probably something weird with the menu components, but we wont update them until next alpha’s because updates usually bring out some weird issues (like this one), and we dont have months now to test it against final release… so hopefully when next release/alpha is in 2-3 weeks, we will see if that changes things.

Kind of presumed that, but I like to keep you updated. 😃

That does sound like you have some idea of what may be causing it. 🙂
Odd that it only seems to be affecting me though. A Vista quirk maybe?

  • Alpha Testers

Would you believe that with the latest update 14.02.03 this has fixed itself.
I wonder if it will be permanent or if it will revert back to how it was. Time will tell. 😉

  • conexware

You will see the tools all show separately in the Home tab when PA is started without an open archive.
When an archive is open, the Home tab will feature the Tools button as a dropdown, as in the screenshot in the first post.
Then, clicking the Tools tab shows all of the tools separately.

    That seems to be OK?

Umm! Either I’m misunderstanding you Mili or I’m missing the obvious, but those tools have never appeared on the my Home tab if an archive isn’t open. 😕

I see now what you mean.
Now that they are there in the Home tab when an archive isn’t open, what do you think about having them there?

I kinda like having everything there in one tab, for easy access.

    Your thoughts?
