For example:
Download this ZIP file: http://dslstats.me.uk/files/dslstats32W-6.5.zip
Everything in the ZIP file is in a directory “dslstats32W-6.5”.
However when I extract using right click “Extract Here” the name of the directory created is “2W-6.5” !
I am running PA 22.00.09 on Windows 11. I have seen the same happen with some other kinds of archive too.
Hello!
Is there currently no portable version of PA2023 available?
(When) do you plan to release one?
Thanks!
If I compress a folder to a .pa using right click, Compress to folder.pa and use the new Windows 11 menu then the Options, Configuration, Miscellaneous, Use normal relative path setting is always enabled.
But I like this option disabled so I have to use the old style menu in order to get PA to compress a folder in the way I wish.
Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

PA 22.00.09 shows a nag screen, when I try to open some setting windows. I have already PA 2023 Toolbox and PA shows, that it’s licensed in the info dialog.

I’m looking forward to deploying PowerArchiver 2023 to my users. Can you tell us when the MSI will be available for download and distribution?
Thanks.
Hi there,
there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/
As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?
Hi,
From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.
Thanks
I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz
It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.
If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)
PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
Discovered:
a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.
Cloud: Autorize SkyDrive doesn't work
-
After pressing OK to enable the permissions for PA (Which are a lot, can yo u explain why?)
The form just stays blanco. And none responsive.
-
I guess it took so long to create the filelist.
-
it is hard to understand whats going on :-)
I guess i need to try it out myself.
-
you mean why all the access rules? dunno, thats how it works… it is only your PowerArchiver though, not some web application, but your local PA.
-
so how many files do you have there? was it faster 2nd time? was it non responsive first time? I got nothing inside right now, so i will try to reproduce.
-
Ironically, I was just going to make a post about this.
Skydrive seems from the start go unstable.
The 1st this is the Authorize Dialog hangs once you have logged in and there is now way other that to exit the application via task manager.
Then there seems to be a delay or hang on most of the files and folders.
Attachment Cloud and Dropbox both worked without issue and are quick.

Authorize is an IE window that access’s the SkyDrive website… once you authorize it, it saves the token on your computer… but thats all up to SkyDrive I believe… we will see more about it.

Trying to get Google Drive to work. I clicked on it and it took a minute, opened a window, then asked for email and password.
Entered the info, then the screen updated and wanted me to accept the terms, which I did. It takes a few seconds and then it gives an error unable to load the page.

yeah, i just checked, it is all done via Google pages - it doesnt have anything to do with PA itself - it doesnt go to our site, nor anything is stored on our site… it is all done by google.com and whatever the name of skydrive itself is.
Now I wonder if the problems people are having are due to crappy IE, because it is IE that opens up as it is always installed on the system. But there is nothing we can do about that though.
It does seem that IE11 they have in 8.1 I am using is finally usable… 10 was horrible on my computer, didnt want to load anything properly.
-
FYI, my 25GB SkyDrive is almost Full.
-
Second time is just as slow.
-
a lot of files - how many files are there and how long it takes? We can at least make it more responsive… i will upload a lot of small files to mine to test
-
we were able to improve the load times for the file list, lets see by how much.
-
ok, so 15s for .20 vs 28s for .18, for logging/loading filelist Skydrive. So abou 2x faster for newer version.
This is for +1000 files or so… we also added some “progress” messages and little bit more responsive, also fixed total upload progress bar.
It is not perfect yet, but it is better.
-
it takes almost 5 minutes…
-
so it will take 1/2 now, at least :P
we could do caching… we will see… (in the future)
-
well this is already 1/2 :)
-
what version are you trying?
-
.20
-
:-)
-
do you have many sub folders?
maybe we could read only main folder and then later cache rest of them…. but otherwise, it is slow due to Skydrive in general… i just checked their options and nothing really too good that we can do, except to only open root folder.
-
i was testing google drive vs SkyDrive… Google has a lot more options for API. And it is a LOT faster off the bat… it is 3-4 seconds for 1000+ files for me, while 14s for SkyDrive for same amount of files.

Can you not write a time out script so if the screen stays for a period of time it then closes the windows?
The problem isn’t with waiting it’s the fact that your stuck andunable to uuse PowerArchiver until it’s finished.
-
10.000 files, 351 folders
-
-
10 folder and 2 files in root
-
ok, so this update is live for everyone (.20)… it is also different from your’s guido… but nothing related to SkyDrive or clouds…
