    MSI release?
    J

I’m looking forward to deploying PowerArchiver 2023 to my users. Can you tell us when the MSI will be available for download and distribution?

    Thanks.

    Missing Icons
    LuxorL

Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

Security vulnerabilities in 7zip / Update for PowerArchiver and PACL libraries?
    BigMikeB

    Hi there,

there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
    https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
    https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/

As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?

    Hi,

From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.

    Thanks

    Better ZPAQ support
    W

I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz

It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.

    Bug with "Encrypt Archive" action
    W

If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)

PA 21.00.18 Action / Test behaves oddly for me on .PA files
    Brian GregoryB

PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
    Discovered:
    a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
    b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.

I am uploading a .7z file to my FTP and its counting completed it -%'s and not showing a progress bar. I am pretty sure its uploading the file.

Also…when you click on cancel it seems to take it as a suggestion and you have to hit the exit button 3-4 times for the window to finally close. It does this when zipping files as well…any idea on that?

Not sure about ftp uploading, but during Compression/Extraction “Cancel” actually means when current file operation (that’s file NOT archive) is finished.
PA has to wait for the “library” function to return control to the GUI.

        Actually, maybe ftp is similar??

I have attached the pic I took of it uploading to my FTP.

As far as canceling or stopping an archive/FTP upload in progress…what is the best method? Like I said currently I hit the x button 3-4 times and it will close.

I understand this is true for PA, but I wish it would cancel when you hit cancel. 7Zip, for example, cancels immediately when you tell it to, there is no waiting, no matter how large the current file happens to be.

complaining about it is first and major step into fixing it :-)

Did you want me to try it from the program itself? Also…I second the suggestion that Dragon57 had…hitting cancel should probably cancel the whole thing (at least IMO). Should i start a thread in the suggestions/wishlist area?

yes please… and yes, you should want everything to work to your liking… then if something is not possible for whatever reason, we will say so.

but do not be restricted by what we say :-)

Odd spwolf….I tried another file and its at 100% uploaded (done same way) but there is no way its done…its a 6 GB file (other was 2gb) both were done in the same way. I just tried to upload them by opening PA and it stays at 0 bytes and wont even attempt to upload. Hmmm.

I have been watching this thread. I have tried it several times, and the progress bars and the %s are working just fine.

I have tried it within PA and using the shell. Works fine either place.

                                  Odd

i suspect it has something to do with files over 2 GB / 4GB and since this entirely new component in 2011, it makes sense.

                                      Does make sense.

But I am giving it a test right now. If my results are different, I will let you know. But FTPing a file in excess of 2 gig will definitely take some time.

I did not wait for it to finish.

For what it is worth, I got a slightly different result.

                                        My progress started at above 250% – and it was counting down (252, 251, 250 . . .)

Both mine were over 2 GB. One was 2.2 and the other was 6+. Other files do work fine.
