    Website ideas
    D davidsplash
I do like the new website though I would like to have support tap to include in its menu the community forums. As at first I thought you got rid of them until I accidently went to bottom of support form page. It would be nice to have a menu for approved plugins for powerarchiver. I would be willing to test them for you.

Could powerarchiver be open sourced as I fear it is going to be lost once you decide to stop development on it.

    Missing Icons
    LuxorL Luxor
Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9 [image: 1695053428163-powerarc_2023-09-18_17-00-19.png] [image: 1695053445119-powerarc_2023-09-18_17-01-05.png]

    Missing or ugly SFX-Icon
    MerowingerM Merowinger
When I create a SFX-file from a zip (not from a 7-Zip) it happens that there is no icon for the file or a really ugly, pixelated icon. [image: 1563693941255-unbenannt-1.jpg]

    End of Powerarchiver

Powerarchiver is dead no updates to fix bugs no new features, no communication and errors in program update system with scripting errors. Duplicate context menus windows 11 no fixes no updates I declare that this is the last version.

    Windows 11 Shell Extension crash
    W wilsonp
Copied the Take Command shortcut, changed Target to be wt.exe -p “Take Command” and saved it. Right-clicked to get to properties and Explorer crashed. (wt.exe is the Microsoft Terminal program, which I have installed from the Microsoft Store.) The Target path had changed to: C:\Users{username}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps\wt.exe -p “Take Command” Created a new shortcut in a Start Menu folder and set the command line to the same, and it crashed the same. Created a new shortcut and set the command line to mspaint.exe (also a Windows Store app) and Explorer crashed on right-click on the shortcut. It appears PowerArchiver shell extensions doesn’t handle Windows Store apps in shortcuts properly. Perhaps it needs better defensive coding around checking the Target of shortcuts, or just ignoring shortcuts altogether. Running PA 22.00.11 on Windows 11 24H2 Build 26100.6584

    Affected by winrar/.rar vulnerability?

Was Power Archiver affected by the WinRAR/.rar vulnerability discovered by ESET researchers recently? Not sure if PA is using their libraries for extraction.

Ultimate zip was made by powerarchiver
    D davidsplash
From google search AI Overview Yes, that’s correct. UltimateZip was indeed a product of the same company that developed PowerArchiver, and it was essentially a rebranded version of PowerArchiver. It was discontinued and replaced by PowerArchiver.

    News/Update on PowerArchiver/Connexion in 2024
    TheAndyMacT TheAndyMac
Hi everyone, some good news about PowerArchiver… I’ve managed to get in touch with the original developer of PowerArchiver, Ivan Petrovic, and he has confirmed that the product is not dead or abandoned, in fact it is still very much alive! There has been a hiatus over the past months for various reasons, but that we should expect to see stuff coming through in the coming months (hopefully the next 2 months).

Zip extraction from windows 11 by windows
    D davidsplash
Basically I used powerarchiver context menus to zip up a folder then i used windows 11 own built in zip extractor via the context menu to extract all and this is where it throw up a fault. , I’m using windows 11 . The file that was a problem in the zip that windows 11 could not extract was iva “babe” cotton.jpg I know it has non standard quotes in it. However I had winrar on the computer and tried the exact same method with their context menu compress to zip and then I extracted the file with windows own extract all context menu and it had no problems. This indicates that powerarchiver is doing something different with iva “babe” cotton.jpg compressing to zip. Then I changed iva “babe” cotton.jpg to iva babe cotton.jpg and compressed it with powerarchiver and then tried it with windows 11 extract all and had no problems. It looks like powerarchiver is doing something to that one file that has quotes in it. Please note that powerarchiver extracted both zip files with no problems, only windows built in zip extraction had the fault. Reason I’m letting people know in case they send zip files with special characters in files names to people who do not have powerarchiver. When will a fix be implemented?

by the definition, when you write bat file to execute several actions, they are done sequentially, so “queued”.

The bat file is called from the context menu, so it get’s the path. It does several things, then calls winrar and exits.

So, PA will queue but GUI operations.
PACL does not queue at all.

Is there some way to accomplish this?

Sorry I don’t understand this. Can you show us the batch file you are trying?

P.S. I promise not to criticise for using WinRar instead of PowerArchiver :D

                "c:\program files (x86)\powerarchiver\POWERARC.exe" -e "%%a" %1"!desti!"

rem Works with WINRAR: start winrar x "%%a" * "!desti!"

Batch coding has become quite obnoxious with the quotes and the % and the !.

                Win7 x64 btw.

The script is called from the context menu. I’ve got it setup so I can right click on the folder and press 1 to make it find the rar and send it to the batch to extract and such.

I could do more dde type passing, just hoping to find something to work with what I have already.

Ah, you’re still trying to use PowerArchiver.
spwolf was saying to use Batch file with PACL instead.

                  Something like

FOR %i IN *.rar DO paext %i

Of course you can use parameters to Batch file to allow choosing folders/archives etc.

i think he is calling separate actions, so how do you queue that?

you have to use PA2010 and PA starter.

A batch-queue wont work for me because it doesn’t know when there was a problem with the extract, so it will wait forever.

It needs to use the GUI queue that’s smart enough to continue on to the next extract.

PA starter is the PowerArchiver Queue.
If you did not enable it on install then it can be activated using the QUEUE under Options/Configuration menu.

                            @Bugglers:

This is from the help file:

The problem is when I use POWERARC -es testrar.rar, it does not make the folder testrar and extract to it, instead it extracts to the current directory.

When extracting too many at the same time I get false extract errors. I just want to send extract commands to a simple gui for queued extraction. I’d prefer the gui remain visible when there’s a problem, and disappear when there isn’t. I think PA will do this….

                            …

                            This works: POWERARC -e testrar.rar c:\temp\test\testrar

This does not work POWERARC -e testrar.rar .\testrar

                            …

So I have the extract part working, but it is NOT queuing, it is opening a new window for each extract.

simply enable PA Queue option in Config> Queue… this is what you want!

you need to start PAStarter.exe, maybe you keep turning it off? It is responsible for running the queue.

keep in mind default minimum for queue is 9 MB, so try larger files or decrease the limit to 0.

Yes, that is what I used before. In the main interface, it’s Options, Configuration, Queue (std), “Always use queue”

                                          It will not stay checked.

I check the box, press OK, Options, Configuration, Queue (std), and observe it is unchecked again.

Note that after doing this, the system-tray PA Starter Always-Queue option is now unchecked.

The “Don’t queue files smaller than” is set to 20mb.

                                          Kinda buggy…
