Can you include .3MF to the list of re-compressible formats? Its structure is similar to MS Office 2007 documents and Open Document Format. It is a ZIP Deflate archive with XML data and some JPG, and/or PNG pictures inside. Otherwise, if I try to compress .3MF it bearly makes it smaller unless I recompress .3MF to the Store setting then it makes it a lot smaller.
Wish they all would move to 7zip ZSTD in the first place so that the optimized file size with FileOptimizer would be 50% of the ZIP Deflate version. And there would be no extra compression needed :)
I noticed that the option to add the optimize archive function to the context menu is missing on Windows 10.
Opening each archive with the interface in order to click it becomes tedious with many files.
Same for others functions like Remove Archive Encryption
Context menu profiles and show the add dialog before starting compression

I customized some of the profiles shown on the context menu, but when i rightclick files or folders and choose the profile the compression start without the option to change any of the settings. That make the profiles pretty useless for me since i almost always need to set the filename manually. So i always end up using the “Compress with options…”.
I would like a checkbox for each profile where i can select to show the “Add” dialog before the compression start. That way i can change some of the defaults for the profile if i prefer like the filename. WinRAR is an example of a compression utility with this feature.-gan

interesting point…
I always wanted to be able to add custom profiles to the context menu after creating them but the guys here reckoned it’s a very complex task to cater for every conceivable combination. -

This one is easier though since i would just like the option to show the “Add” dialog before the compression start so i can change the filename. The current version of PA the context menu entries start the compression right away without the option to change any of the settings before the compression start.

whats the difference between that and compress + options?

Well i can give you an example. When using WinRAR i create a profile with the settings i want and remove the check for “Immediate execution”. So when i want to compress some files/folders i select the files/folders, rightlick and choose the profile from the context menu and then just change the filename/path unless i’m happy with the default filename/path.
When i want to do the same using PA to create a 7-zip archive i select the files/folder, rightclick and choose compress with options, click 7-zip, select another profile i created for 7-zip and then change the filename/path. It’s not like it’s a lot more work, but more steps instead of just selecing 7-zip from the context menu and see the “Add” dialog before the compression start where my default settings for 7-zip are selected already.
If i change the profile “ShellExt: 7-ZIP default” to the settings i prefer those settings will not be the default settings when i choose “Compress with options” and click the 7-ZIP ratio button even if the profile field says “7-ZIP default”. Wouldn’t it make sense that the “ShellExt: 7-ZIP default” profile will be the default for 7-ZIP even when using the “Compress with options”?
Don’t get me wrong i think PA is great with many features. I just think it could be enhanced a bit to make it easier to use with fewer steps and better options to customize the profiles.
