Can you include .3MF to the list of re-compressible formats? Its structure is similar to MS Office 2007 documents and Open Document Format. It is a ZIP Deflate archive with XML data and some JPG, and/or PNG pictures inside. Otherwise, if I try to compress .3MF it bearly makes it smaller unless I recompress .3MF to the Store setting then it makes it a lot smaller.
Wish they all would move to 7zip ZSTD in the first place so that the optimized file size with FileOptimizer would be 50% of the ZIP Deflate version. And there would be no extra compression needed :)
I noticed that the option to add the optimize archive function to the context menu is missing on Windows 10.
Opening each archive with the interface in order to click it becomes tedious with many files.
Same for others functions like Remove Archive Encryption
Archive information

PA is very good at opening and extracting all kinds of archives, and that including common archives hidden behind all sorts of extensions. I’m surprised sometimes!
What I would like to see, is some information about what archive I’m dealing with.
I guess that would be quite easy to implement in some way, since PA apparently knows what it is. -
Click the status bar in PowerArchiver and it will show the archive properties where you can see witch format it is.

Right, totally missed that. :)
Thanks NTFS

Thats true but pa does not embed information onto the archive. For instance it does not inform people it created the archive from the properties, nor what version or who created it.

Noone does it. Archive format has specifications and you can’t write there anything you want. And why do you need to know which program has created archive? Archive is a standard file format and can be opened with every compression program supporting that format.

I have checked a couple of “hidden” archives and most of them displays correct.
Iconpackager .ip as .zip, Nokia .nth as .zip,
but SonyEricsson .thm is displayed as filename.thm.
Should be .tar, compression tarred.Thats very confusing.

there is a problem you need to know who craeted the archive so as to diagnose problems with it. For instance somne zips can be the new type over 4gb big and some the old type. not all archivers can open all the types. what i’m saying it would be usefull. If i had a zip created by pa a version and then the latest one could not open it i could report it as a bug. This would aid in helping developers find bugs in there programs.
