    Website ideas
    D davidsplash
I do like the new website though I would like to have support tap to include in its menu the community forums. As at first I thought you got rid of them until I accidently went to bottom of support form page. It would be nice to have a menu for approved plugins for powerarchiver. I would be willing to test them for you.

Could powerarchiver be open sourced as I fear it is going to be lost once you decide to stop development on it.

    Missing Icons
    LuxorL Luxor
Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9 [image: 1695053428163-powerarc_2023-09-18_17-00-19.png] [image: 1695053445119-powerarc_2023-09-18_17-01-05.png]

    Missing or ugly SFX-Icon
    MerowingerM Merowinger
When I create a SFX-file from a zip (not from a 7-Zip) it happens that there is no icon for the file or a really ugly, pixelated icon. [image: 1563693941255-unbenannt-1.jpg]

    End of Powerarchiver

Powerarchiver is dead no updates to fix bugs no new features, no communication and errors in program update system with scripting errors. Duplicate context menus windows 11 no fixes no updates I declare that this is the last version.

    Windows 11 Shell Extension crash
    W wilsonp
Copied the Take Command shortcut, changed Target to be wt.exe -p “Take Command” and saved it. Right-clicked to get to properties and Explorer crashed. (wt.exe is the Microsoft Terminal program, which I have installed from the Microsoft Store.) The Target path had changed to: C:\Users{username}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps\wt.exe -p “Take Command” Created a new shortcut in a Start Menu folder and set the command line to the same, and it crashed the same. Created a new shortcut and set the command line to mspaint.exe (also a Windows Store app) and Explorer crashed on right-click on the shortcut. It appears PowerArchiver shell extensions doesn’t handle Windows Store apps in shortcuts properly. Perhaps it needs better defensive coding around checking the Target of shortcuts, or just ignoring shortcuts altogether. Running PA 22.00.11 on Windows 11 24H2 Build 26100.6584

    Affected by winrar/.rar vulnerability?

Was Power Archiver affected by the WinRAR/.rar vulnerability discovered by ESET researchers recently? Not sure if PA is using their libraries for extraction.

Ultimate zip was made by powerarchiver
    D davidsplash
From google search AI Overview Yes, that’s correct. UltimateZip was indeed a product of the same company that developed PowerArchiver, and it was essentially a rebranded version of PowerArchiver. It was discontinued and replaced by PowerArchiver.

    News/Update on PowerArchiver/Connexion in 2024
    TheAndyMacT TheAndyMac
Hi everyone, some good news about PowerArchiver… I’ve managed to get in touch with the original developer of PowerArchiver, Ivan Petrovic, and he has confirmed that the product is not dead or abandoned, in fact it is still very much alive! There has been a hiatus over the past months for various reasons, but that we should expect to see stuff coming through in the coming months (hopefully the next 2 months).

BETA PowerArchive 22.00.11 - Windows 11 Context Menu duplicated/additional tier

The Windows 11 context menu for PowerArchiver on normal files (to be compressed, etc.) is now showing multiple tiers with two identical menus. Zip extraction from windows 11 by windows
    D davidsplash
Basically I used powerarchiver context menus to zip up a folder then i used windows 11 own built in zip extractor via the context menu to extract all and this is where it throw up a fault. , I’m using windows 11 . The file that was a problem in the zip that windows 11 could not extract was iva “babe” cotton.jpg I know it has non standard quotes in it. However I had winrar on the computer and tried the exact same method with their context menu compress to zip and then I extracted the file with windows own extract all context menu and it had no problems. This indicates that powerarchiver is doing something different with iva “babe” cotton.jpg compressing to zip. Then I changed iva “babe” cotton.jpg to iva babe cotton.jpg and compressed it with powerarchiver and then tried it with windows 11 extract all and had no problems. It looks like powerarchiver is doing something to that one file that has quotes in it. Please note that powerarchiver extracted both zip files with no problems, only windows built in zip extraction had the fault. Reason I’m letting people know in case they send zip files with special characters in files names to people who do not have powerarchiver. When will a fix be implemented?

is this one of the time backup and later you will be using incremental backups for only changed files?

I always want to use full backups. Have bad experiances with incremental backups.
In a first step I used zip as suggested… I will see tomorrow.

I also set the password as you mentioned.

        Thank you!

                Sorry…

                Error writing to a file.

Possible reasons: Disk full or no write permissions.
Please check if you have permissions to write to this folder.

                Vista users:
In Microsoft Vista, writing to certain folders is not allowed (i.e. C:\Program Files).
You will need to start PowerArchiver as Administrator. If you are extracting files you
can use drag and drop from PowerArchiver main interface to extract files to that folder.
                Uploading D:\Temp_PA1653574904\kpi01-24-09-2008.7z

There is still 300GB left an D:

you are still trying with 7z :).

Download final release from download page or via Web Update.

If you want to use 7zip, try using Normal setting which takes up a lot less memory. Try with Zip as well.

How many files/folders are you compressing in total?

This was what I was trying to say. i used zip and it still didn’t work. Even with final version…

Not so much… Something like 7GB, 8 Folders… I always use the normal setting… Never tried full or incremental.

above error is 7zip error not zip.

Check compression - make sure it is Normal, not Ultra/Max (not backup type, compression strenght).

ok… but I will do some final test. I just right clicked and said create 7zip. At the same time I do right click an create zip.

                              ok… Here we go…

The 7zip and zip with right click worked. So I checked which settings the right click options have. Changed the pbs file to these settings and starting the pbs worked finally…!!

The only thing I changed was putting the 7zip compression level fom utra to maximum. Then it worked and uploaded the file to the ftp server.

Now the scheduler has to work and I am happy…

After the scheduled backups finish I see in the processes list that the PA.exes are still open. So I guess that after successful backup they won’t be closed…

And I still have on a Windows 2003 Server the problem that the task is not running. Only when I log in. But I gave the scheduled task a user and password. Any ideas?

if task is nor running unless you login, you need to check in windows scheduler what the problem is - you can check directly in scheduler. Common problem there is that correct login/pass was not provided so schedule cant login.

as to the pa.exe staying in the background - send us your pbs and we will try it out.

                                  thanks,
