if u look at my previous post spywolf i added the webpage to Upack, there are 2 gui’s for it, winUpack is standard and UPO is for running it through the numbers, to get the best size, itstead of doing it manually
for the 7-zip dat file, it would be 3,47 with a filesize of 202924 bytes for the smallest size, talking of filesizes, wouldnt it be possible for you to modify a sfx file already made as small as possible without compression, add info to that.

you have to consider that we have to have full interface. When we modified 7zip sfx, we couldnt add all the features we wanted, without size going up. And more important was that we found out that modified sfx was slower than using dll, which is why we moved to dll.

It is mostly for distributing files that are large - larger than 10-15 MB compressed, so extra 150kb for interface doesnt really matter…

we did try upack, but for reason that escapes me now, we decided un upx implementation… could be false positives or some incompatibility, not sure anymore.

Not really, it is hard to expect anything but mostly good answers on PowerArchiver forums, since people here like…PowerArchiver:-).

It is hard to expect that people who visit daily dont like it :-).

Okay, you forced me to reply. I’ve been using PA 2006 for a few months and I love it! I was a registered user of that other software (initials W.Z.) but they ticked me off by asking me to pay for the most recent upgrade.

PA 2007 seems to work just fine (save for a few bugs I’m sure will be worked out before final release) but I really don’t like the new interface. It’s too “busy”. But as long as I can use the “classic” interface, I’ve got no problem. Of course, I’m still using the “Windows Classic” style on my XP machine, too…

Great job guys!

However there are two things that annoy me.
Why is it not possible to cascade the context menu like in PA2006?
Some Buttons are to small for the German translation.

sure it is… you just have to do via Add to submenu button…

We enlarged everything to the maximum especially for the germans….
