PA 22.00.06 (PA 2023)
It has been the case with previous versions of PowerArchiver, but I had hoped that the latest might behave differently. Not so, I’m afraid.
I have, for various obscure reasons, created a few .pa archives, mainly in the hope that they will save me some more space. From time to time, I use the “Test” option to check that important archives are OK and uncorrupted.
With every .pa archive I’ve tested, the process runs through OK but then reports that there are errors. This is always the number of files in the archive e.g. if 11 files, then 11 errors reported.
In the .pa, I can:-preview the files (usually PDF) extract some or all files and look at or use them convert the .pa to a .zip or .zipx archive, which then works fine and tests without errors
Is it the case that the Test routine isn’t designed for .pa archives, or is there another reason? Although the .pa seems to function properly, despite the test reporting errors, I would like to be sure that every .pa is OK and not “broken”.
Some of the .pas are quite old and produced with earlier PA versions (they are truly “archives”). If I extract all the files in the old .pa, create a new, fresh .pa and add back the files to that, then test the new, no errors (at least in the .pa I’ve tried this on) are reported. This would suggest a mismatch between old .pas and newer versions of PA itself.

For some reason, the PowerArchiver functions in the Windows 11 context menu no longer work after the last Windows Update. Only the functions in the classic context menu function as they should.
I’ve tried uninstalling PowerArchiver and using RevoUninstaller to remove all bits and pieces that were left behind and did a clean install of PowerArchiver, it didn’t fix the issue. Other items in the Windows 11 context menu work.
I installed powarc-macos20001.dmg and I am attempting to create a password protected zip file. When I create the zip in the UI it doesn’t write the file to the destination folder. No error message is displayed. The PA app has full folder permission. I’m new to Mac, but have been running PA on Windows for a long time.
Will there be a new version of the Mac version soon?
Hi! I came across an issue when I tried to uninstall PowerArch 2013. I got an error “The specified account already exists” which broke the process. I got the same error when I tried to install the current version, without uninstalling the previous one.
So I can’t uninstall and I can’t install PowerArchiver. Any suggestions? OS Windows 8.1 x64.
This appears to be happening again with the Power Archiver 2022 shell extensions.
When I have Use Explorer Shell Extensions enabled in Power Archiver Configuration and right-click on c:\Users\username\Start Menu, (hidden Junction file), File Explorer crashes.
I have version 21.00.15 (03/2022) 64-bit installed in Windows 10 Version 21H2 (Build 19044.1826).
Lots of Bugs
Currently on the 2021 20.00.55, updated, and licensed.
I have been facing this issue since 2019 version.
- Queues don’t actually do anything
That I run powerarchiver starter as admin, or without admin.
Then I queue some files, and most of the files take forever, to go from 1% to 2%
and let’s say if the 5th of total 10 files are stuck that should mean the other 4 should be completed, but no, the directories are just like that.
Using Queue feature makes the Powerarchiver to process and compress files, but the PA archives do no appear, neither the disk’s total used space changes.
However if I manually compress files without queuing, no matter if I run multiple compression or one by one, there’s always success.
sometimes compression is stuck at certain percentage for a 50 or 200 MB file, forever.
I want to speed up multiple compression, I find the batch compression feature useless, as I cannot configure any custom parameters or advanced option under PA archive format
So, Let me save parameters(Advanced Option) of Profiles
i) Either I should be able to customize PA Default profile, so I don’t have to select files and manually select profile, but not even single parameter can be saved
ii) Or I should be able to create a new profile and be able to set that as default.
It’s end of 2020 and I have been trying to reach Powerarchiver team to add this, but no one wants to listen or do anything.
Refer case PA-FCW-TLNFM-096
I still cannot save parameters under advanced options like DDL/EXE filter to delta, or PNG PDF Filter, or set zlib to 9 or dictionary size or experimental stuff.
Soo many Revisions and versions released but I still cannot have a profile saved with whatever I want, be it existing or new profile.
Don’t you guys at Powerarchiver labs get frustrated everytime you have to configure these parameters manually?
When I stop an ongoing compression process, that is stuck or let’s say it’s not stuck but I click on cancel and then on No, it still continues compression for no reason.
Just cancel it
- If I start compression and pause, the progress bar shortly(progresses) reaches to completion, but no compression is done, and then archive is stuck forever
For all my claims above I have sent ticket today with screenshots from my registered email.
- if you can:
Batch archive is good idea, but if I have multiple directories inside directories, then I want first child directory to have all of it’s subdirectory compressed to that same first child directory
I have a folder in D:\pics
that folder has following folder
Each of the above folder has sub folder:
I want those sub folders(black, white, colorful, fluffy) not to be compressed individually, but the cats, dogs and fishes folders to be compressed individually
- Queues don’t actually do anything
Taking a look at these and will reply back with results
We have done some tests and have sent a reply to your support ticket. There are some further questions there regarding testing scenarios.
Also, if anyone else notices issues with compression when using queue, please let us know. b
I made response to your reply, it’s currently pending with you.
Post that I learned that Stable version of 2021 is released.
I completely wiped my Internal SSD, Installed a New and better version of Win 10 OS.
and did fresh install of PA Toolbox 2021
Still face the same issues:
- If I queue 10 folders with 4-5 files each of 800mb+, running PowerArc Queue as Admin, and creating queue from PowerArchiver itself while being run as Admin, 3-4 folders will not have any .pa file, and the queue entries from show queue when right clicking the icon at notif. bar will have certain entries disappear as the entries are processed.
However, when I manually do compression, it works, only queue has problem.
- CAN I PLEASE CHANGE THE DEFAULT PROFILE FOR COMPRESSION?
I don’t have to use your PA Default profile ever in my requirements.
it does not have better and appropriate parameters set.
I cannot modify this profile.
I cannot set any other profile as Default.
Why are you forcing me? I have to go through a lot of click only because since 2019 you have not been able to resolve any of my issues
- AGAIN, WHEN USING THE .PA FORMAT, UNDER ADVANCED OPTIONS TAB, I CANNOT SAVE PARAMETERS IN FILTER SECTION.
How long does it takes for you to fix this. How many times do I have to raise this concern?
Are your software devs working?
Tested the queue issue on another test machine and it seems like i was able to reproduce it
out of nine 1gb folders, 7 compressed and 2 didn’t, which seems like the same bug.
It has been screen recorded and logged in for fixing.
The issue with the Advanced Option settings not being saved is also logged in and pending fixing. It has been bumped and we will look to fix it in the upcoming update.
Additionaly, an improvement to add the ability to pre-configure the Advanced options for the .PA format in the configuration>compression profiles menu is also logged in.
You can expect the queue files disappearing to be fixed in the next update, as well as the advanced options not being saved.
It’s going to be an year, and still I have to follow up on this, when would this be fixed?
We have the issue with que setup as a priority fix for PA 2022 and we’re starting work on it soon.
We’ll post test versions here to check out and give us feedback on the fix.
thanks for your help!
