Hello!
I know I have been asking for this feature some time ago, but as nothing has changed let me ask again:
The ZIPX-format offers an algorithm, that compresses JPEG-files by about 20-30%. Please add compression (packing) support for this in ZIPX-archives to Powerarchiver. Extraction of JPEGs packed into ZIPX by this algorithm is already supported by Powerarchiver for a long time, so it should not be difficult? Or is it a licensing problem?
Thanks! -
I love this, only there is one problem. The UAC elevation feature does not extend to Mount Image option in the add-on software PA provided. It is most annoying whenever I am on highest UAC settings and I mount an ISO, every time I open and create a virtual drive UAC appears. I also do not want to completely disable UAC.
Is adding UAC elevation for mount image feature possible?

The now defunct Bulkzip had Nanozip (nz) as an option this would be great to have for compatibility with my .nz files, so I don’t have to install Bulkzip separately.
-
Hi.
I noticed that when I want to run the Virtual Drive for the first time inside the PowerArchiver Burner it prompts to download it form the internet.
I was wondering, would it be OK to include this utility straight into the offline installer to be able to set it up locally?
Thank you!

How about recognising a few more (or all) of the file formats that are basically renamed zip files and treating them is if they are zip files.
For instance Android .apk files are just renamed .zip files.
Libreoffice/Openoffice ODF documents are all, as far as I am aware, just renamed .zip files. (.odt, .ott, .ods, .ots, .odp, .otp, .odb, .odf etc.) -

Hi,
I’d like to suggest, that the correct archive type is (always) selected, when adding files by drag & drop to an archive.
This is already happening if the archive has the correct extension. For example, if I’m adding files to test.zip, zip will be selected. If I’m adding files to test.7z, 7z will be selected as format in “Add dialog”.
But this won’t be working, if the archive has not the “right” extension.
So XPI files (Firefox addons) for example are ZIP files. PowerArchiver opens them without any problems, but if I try to add file by drag & drop, PowerArchiver won’t auto select “ZIP”, but use the last selected archive format, while PowerArchiver already knows, that I’m trying to add files to a ZIP. -
Would it be possible at all in some future version perhaps, to have a “find file” function?
Reason I ask is that I was looking for a certain file I knew existed in an archive, but I had to unzip it then use another tool to find the file. It would have saved that extra step if that function existed in PA itself. -
Hi.
Is there a way to enable the user to encrypt the files inside a ZIPX archive that has already been created?
This could save time for large archives that the user may need to encrypt at a later stage or that he/she has forgotten to enable encryption before creating the archive,
Thank you!

Hi.
I would like to see a new feature implemented: a ‘Fast Extract’ Mode.
Currently PowerArchiver extracts files to a temporary directory and then moves them to the target directory chosen by the user. At least via drag and drop.
This can be both time consuming and needs free space on the system drive for large files.
Is there a way to directly extract files to the target directory with PowerArchiver?
And if not, can a feature like this be considered for future updates? Thanks very much!

Hello.
I believe it would be useful to implement Serpent-256 encryption for PAE/PAE2 formats, even though PowerArchiver offers strong encryption ciphers already.

Do you think this will be a useful addition?
Thank you for the consideration!

Hello!
I think it would be a great option to make the portable version of PowerArchiver compatible with PortableApps (i.e. adding the necessary files and folders to integrate it smoothly into their structure).
I own various other commercial programmes which -when installed in portable mode- offer to make the becessary changes without needing an extra installer or the official PortableApps repos.
Thanks for opinions or perhaps even a realization of this.

Presently, PowerArchiver 2019 (any build) cannot rename PBS filenames by single clicking on such entry or right-click menu has no “Rename” feature!
Hmm, even pressing F2 on selected entry does nothing :(

Please add support for ownCloud / Nextcloud, thanks.

Hi,
I had a look at the command line switches, but there are no switches to change the startup mode.
At the moment, PowerArchiver opens in the last used mode.
Opening PowerArchiver from Start Menu or Desktop: Start in Explorer Mode Opening PowerArchiver by double clicking an archive: Start PowerArchiver in Archive Mode
I’d like to have command line switches to influence the startup mode.
Basically, the aim is:
Improve Password Manager

Hi, sorry to compare PowerArchiver with WinRAR, but WinRAR 4.0 has a feature I like a lot. I stores passwords if you choose it. It is very useful when you download files with the same password, because you only has to select the password saved. In PowerArchive you have to put the password in every new file you download.
I download every few days files with same password and I have to put it again and again in PowerArchive.
PowerArchive saves passwords from opened archives, but I think it is more handy to have a database of passwords where I can choose which one I want like in WinRAR 4:
What do you think?
-
it is ok, we had password manager for 5-6 years now, so they better improve on it if they copy it :-)
-
so basically list of passwords to use which will be presented via drop down menu when PPM shows up?
-
Sounds like a good idea! But, I would advise instead of the password showing you have Descriptons for them… ie
Password Description Cat
Rich12 HS Bank Details Personal
Ome1234 Speed.cd TorrentsWhen opening up a file that is protected you are provided with the option to Type a password or Select from the list of Descriptions.
Stegnoas have a good method where by the password is next to the description but hiddden. You then have to provide a master password to show then all.
This master password would also be a good idea when attempting to view via configuiration screen.
-

Yes, exactly. You setup the passwords first and then you choose one from the drop down menu when you try to extract a file.
With two mouse clicks you select a password:)
-
seems complimentary to PPM features (ie save the password for specific archive as well)
-
you guys do realize this is awful for security purposes? :-).
What about when creating archive, same password list?
-

Well in my opinion you’ll put only repetitive passwords, no need to add every password you have. In addition I’m the only user of my computer so no problems with security:)
What about when creating archive, same password list?
WinRAR doesn’t have it but it would be a nice feature so thumbs up.
-

Create a Master Password that must be entered 1st before enabling the Password Manager… Allot like many password managers.
Obviosly, were not going to be using this as a PM for anything super confidential but basic security needs it would be perfect!
-
i would like to have a time limit on how long a password works even if the file is open.
secondly
I store passwords in an encrypted archive i would like to be able to righ click them and say have them go to the clip board for a set amount of time just like keypass on android does. would this be possible? this would help and stop people looking over my shoulder when i dont wnat them seeing m password
-
I like the idea of setting a password time limit for an active Archive, And the idea of clearing clipboard.
Also, How about a PA Boot File that can be installed on a USB Stick. When inserted into a Cleint PowerArchiver’s Password Manager asks the user for their Username & Password this then gives the user access to all authorised encrypted Archives.
Potentially PowerArchiver’s Password manager could have custom username’s and an encrypted .DLL or .CAB that the user could save to a Network where other PowerArchiver’s could read but not see or edit without a super user credentials.
When activating PAPM’s admin / user mode after entering a users credentials it would allow them access to all authorised content without having to know what they are or their password based on the Admin’s settings.
You could even have permisions like Open but not extract etc etc
This of course would be a ToolBox feature only I think!!!
Lets get PA Toolbox edition’s Password Manager the best out there! potentially making it a greater steping stone for users & business’s who want better security managment but without having to buy yet another application and the hugh price tag!
-
i would like to create a key file i send to people in order to open an archive. basically they need the keyfile and a password to open the encrypted archive
Basically this would make send encryted archives more secure
-
original idea was good, but afterwards things are getting cloudy and murky

Yes, but its good as it shows users really want an improvment to this Feature.
Key points raised;
1. Improved Password Managment with Organiser & Master Password.
2. PPM Dropdown menu on Decrypting / Encrypting Archives after Master Password set.
3. Time Limit Options
4. Advanced Encrypted Archive Mode & user permisions options for File Types & Locations.
5. Network Settings for Multiple PPM’s.
6. Powerarchiver Password Key File
If anyone else has any ideas please add to this thread and I will include on the list.

that seems like we should create additional product for it, way too complex.

that seems like we should create additional product for it, way too complex.
Maybe an additional Plugin ie Advanced Password Manager, free for Toolbox users but a charge for Pro & Basic.
Possibly it’s far too much but im sure there are bits that can be taken out ie the Key & Network section & Admin user preferences.
Just keep the extra Password Descriptions, Dropdown option, Timeout for Master Password to Configuration screen etc.
-
would like this feature to be moved to a plugin so it can be updated separtely to powerarchiver.
-
So sounds like most of us would like these features and would be happy to have as an extension plugin if it had all those additional features.

bumping this for the future.

I think that the storing of password , like in WinRAR is only good for using with compress profile/options save function that WinRAR got when making encrypted SFX.
so an option for saving the preferences when making encrypted SFX files in one I think is the most usefull - especially if using a very long “constructed” password. And as far as I know this does not show the password in the interface.
A similar option in PowerArchiver would be a good idea….
