    • Optimize archive on Context Menu

      W

I noticed that the option to add the optimize archive function to the context menu is missing on Windows 10.
Opening each archive with the interface in order to click it becomes tedious with many files.

Same for others functions like Remove Archive Encryption

    • Highlighting files and folders in Add modes

      PA_Fan

I prefer to use light themes, and when, for example, I have set up my main archive screen to be Classic Toolbar with Blizzard Blue, files in the archive are highlighted (no checkboxes, full row select) with white text on grey background. They are easy to see .

However, in the Add screens, the files and folders are black type upon a pale blue background, which is not so readily visible, especially when highlighting separate files in lists with Ctrl/Click for addition. It would be ideal if the backgrounds to files in these screens could be set to mimic the highlighting of those in the main archive window.

I have tried experimenting with different themes and settings for skins, toolbars and so forth, but, unless I’ve missed something, none seem to give me the effect I want.

It would really make me happy if you put .BH in the Windows 11 context menu. I know it’s in the “More Options” section, but this would make it more convenient. Don’t know why the option to add it to the menu isn’t there in the first place. P-L-E-A-S-E ??? :) Thanks You!

      Hi,

I’d like to propose an improvement for password protected archives.

      Actual behavior is:
If I open an archive, which is password protected and make a typo in the password dialog, I’ll get the message, that the password was wrong and I end up with an empty window. I need to reopen the archive to be able to enter the password again.

      Improved behavior:
Tell me, that the password was wrong and give me the chance to enter the correct password to decrypt the archive.

    • ZIPX: Add support for packing JPEG with specialized algorithm

      A

      Hello!
I know I have been asking for this feature some time ago, but as nothing has changed let me ask again:
The ZIPX-format offers an algorithm, that compresses JPEG-files by about 20-30%. Please add compression (packing) support for this in ZIPX-archives to Powerarchiver. Extraction of JPEGs packed into ZIPX by this algorithm is already supported by Powerarchiver for a long time, so it should not be difficult? Or is it a licensing problem?
      Thanks!

I have a folder called extracted as my default extracted folder (d:/extracted).

I would like the files extracted to be in a subfolder in that extracted folder when i use the right click/extract to option. However, I cannot see any option in the config to allow a subfolder to be created. i.e. d:/extracted/abcdef/

This is useful if you are extracting multiple archives and dont want all the files to end up in the same root folder.

Can you point me to the option that enables that or if it doesnt exist, please consider it for a future release?

      Thanks.

You need to look in Shell extensions in the configuration window
Under the extract tab you should find Extract archive to subfolder.
Add it to your shell extensions.

That allows a subfolder to be created in the current folder but not your chosen extracted folder.

That option makes sense. However, if I add it as shell extension, it doesnt appear in the right click menu. The 3 other extract options do.

It doesnt appear in main menu or submenu.

It appears as the item “Extract to xyz” where xyz is the archive filename.

In the context menu it has:
                  Extract to….
                  Extract here
                  Extra to current folder/filename

In the configuration/shell extensions I have added:

                  Extract archive to…
                  Extract here
                  Extract archive to subfolder
Extract archive to filename (multiple archives…)

So, you can see the context menu is missing that last one. If I remove the first three from being available, leaving just the last one, then no entry appears in the menu at all.

The folder is d:\extracted. At the moment, it extracts them all into the d:\extracted. Ideally I would like it to be d:\extracted\zipnamefolder\

That appears to be what the “Extract archive to filename (multiple archives….)” suggests should happen but that option doesnt appear in the context menu when you right click on the archive.

Good catch spwolf; as “Extract to \filename” only works in current folder, I thought doubledoom wanted an option to extract to the configured default folder in options?

Doubledoom - select more than one archive before right-click.

Vista x32 sp1. I just tested it on my x32 vista laptap as well with a clean install and same occurs on there.

                              still doesnt appear.

yes. If you have the default extract location set to your chosen folder it will dump all files into that folder. However, that gets messy if you extract multiple archives. Hence they the option for creation of subfolders in the default folder is desirable.

If I am understanding correctly …

                                  Configuration / Folders / Default Extract To = c:\testing

Multiple Archives in Folder = c:\download
                                  Archive1.zip; Archive2.rar …

Requirement - Option in shell to extract, resulting in files
                                  in subfolders
                                  c:\Testing\Archive1
                                  c:\Testing\Archive2
                                  c:\Testing\Archive3
                                  etc.

                                  And not
                                  c:\download\Archive1
                                  c:\download\Archive2
                                  c:\download\Archive3
                                  etc.

                                  I think :)

ok, lets try this again ;)

set a default extract folder called d:\extracted (drive and folder name doesnt matter as long as the you are setting a folder as your default).

If you want to extract files using the right click in explorer you have:
                                    1 - Extract to…
                                    2 - Extract here
3 - Extract to [subfolder in the current folder]

option 1 puts all the extracted files into the default folder but doesnt put them in a subfolder for each extracted archive. option 2 is not of use here. Option 3 does create a subfolder but not in the default extracted folder but the current folder.

There should be an option to have a subfolder created in the default extracted folder for each extracted archive.

The main benefit of having a subfolder created is that currently if you extract say five archives they all extract directly into the default folder. This can make it messy and can create issues for files of the same name. Whereas if a subfolder was created for each extracted archive it would be a tidy and manageable solution.

you can use drag and drop right click for extract to filename/ to achieve the same result. I know it is a bit more work, but it does work.

Perhaps I could suggest it is something to add to the wishlist. :)

for the queue function to work well, then subfolder creation would be a requirement for extraction.
